Jamshīd Mashāyekhī (November 27, 1934 – April 2, 2019), born in Tehran, was an acclaimed Iranian actor recognized for his contributions to theater, cinema, and television. His cinematic debut came with Khisht va Āyīnah (Brick and Mirror, 1966). His breakthrough performance was in Gāv (The Cow, 1969), a milestone in Iranian cinema. Mashāyekhī won Best Actor for Pedar Bozorg (Grandfather, 1986) at the Pyongyang International Film Festival and Crystal Simorghs for Kamāl-ol-Molk (1984) and Golhā-ye Davūdī (Chrysanthemums, 1985) at the Fajr International Film Festival. His other notable works include Qayṣar (Gheisar, 1969), Soūteh Delān (Desiderium, 1978), and the TV series Solṭān-e Ṣāḥebqarān (1974) and Hezārdastān (1988).
