Mahshid Modares
Mahshid Modares (she/her) is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and researcher. As of Spring 2025, she has received seven awards for her social documentaries and nineteen awards and scholarships for her research. Mahshid has also served as a juror for various visual arts contests, logo competitions, art history symposiums, and film awards. Notably, she was a member of the Peabody Awards Screening Committee for the Interactive and Immersive Media Categories. Mahshid earned her B.F.A. in Visual Arts from Azad University in Tehran. She then obtained an M.A. in Art History and Visual Culture from San Jose State University, followed by an M.F.A. in Social Documentation from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Currently, she is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Film and Digital Media at UCSC.
