Rex Butler is Professor of Art History in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Monash University, Melbourne. He writes on art, art theory, philosophy and film. His most recent book is UnAustralian Art: 10 Essays on a Transnational Art History with ADS Donaldson. He has written the essay ‘Abbas Kiarostami: The Shock of the Real’, for Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities 17 (4), 2012.
