Khusraw Sīnāyī (January 19, 1941 –– August 1, 2020), born in Sari, Iran, was a director, screenwriter, composer, musician, and poet. He attended university in Austria and graduated with degrees in architecture and music composition. He later graduated with honors in script writing and film and television directing. When he returned to Iran in 1967, he began working at the Ministry of Culture and Arts, but also excelled as a producer, writer, director, and editor for Iranian National Television. Sinai was known for his avant-garde documentaries and distinctive docu-drama style. He also served as a juror for several film festivals. Moreover, through his original compositions, he added a unique musical character to his films. He died of COVID19 at the age of 79.
