Majīd Majīdī (born April 15, 1959, Talesh, Iran) is a well-known Iranian filmmaker. In 1999, he made history as the first Iranian director whose film, Children of Heaven (Bachah-hā-yi Āsimān, 1997), was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. He received the most Crystal Simorgh Awards for Best Director at the Fajr International Film Festival in Iran. He achieved international recognition in the world of cinema thanks to his prolific body of work, marked by humanitarian and moral themes that have had a profound impact on Iranian and foreign cinema.
