Mas‛ūd Ja‛farī Jawzānī (born December 9, 1948, Malayer, Iran) is a renowned Iranian filmmaker and writer. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a master’s degree in filmmaking. He made his film debut with a short film that won the best short film award at the Fajr International Film Festival. The television series, In the Eye of the Wind (Dar Chashm-i Bād, 2008-2010) is one of his most notable works. His 1985 film, Frosty Roads (Jāddah-hā-yi Sard), popularized post-revolutionary Iranian cinema worldwide and helped to close the cultural gap between Iranian and Western cinema. It was screened at over nineteen international film festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, and Hong Kong International Film Festival.
