Nāsir Taqvāyī (born July 13, 1941, Abadan, Iran) is an Iranian filmmaker, photographer, and writer. He is regarded as a pivotal figure in the early stages of the Iranian New Wave alongside important filmmakers such as Bahrām Bayzā’ī and Dāryūsh Mihrjūyī. Before going into the movie business, Taghvai gained popularity in 1976 for his highly regarded television series, My Uncle Napoleon (Dā’ī’jān Nāpil’un). His film Captain Khorshid (Nākhudā Khurshīd,1987) won him the Bronze Leopard award at the 1988 Locarno Film Festival, cemented his career as a prosperous director and artist.
