Parastūhā bih lānah bar mīgardand

Parastūhā bih lānah bar mīgardand (The Swallows Return to the Nest) is a 1964 Iranian film written and directed by Majid Mohseni (Majīd Muhsinī). According to the movie’s plot, after losing a child due to a lack of medical facilities in his village, ʻAlī, a farmer, decides to send his son Jalāl to Tehran to study medicine. Due to his father’s efforts, Jalāl is able to study abroad in order to finish his degree. However, Jalāl writes to his father that he will not be returning to Iran once he has completed his studies, because he is fascinated by the West. ʻAlī sends Jalāl a handful of motherland soil in a letter filled with sadness. Affected by father’s letter, Jalāl finally returns home on finishing his studies.
