Paymān Maʿādī (June 30, 1970 –), born in New York City, is an Iranian American actor, screenwriter, and director. He gained international acclaim for Jodāʾī-ye Nāder az Sīmīn (A Separation, 2011), which won him the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival. His other notable films include Dar bāre-ye Elī (About Elly, 2009), Last Knights (2015), and Camp X-Ray (2014). Maʿādī earned the Crystal Simorgh for Best Leading Actor at the 38th Fajr International Film Festival for Derakht-e Gerdoo (The Walnut Tree, 2020).
