Shahlā Rīyāhī (1926-2019) was a pioneering actress and filmmaker from Iran. She started her acting career in 1944 and acted in numerous stage productions. Her cinematic debut was in the movie “Golden Dreams” (year). In 1956, she made history by becoming the first Iranian woman to direct a feature film “Marjān.” Rīyāhī had a remarkable career appearing in more than 72 films and leaving an indelible mark on Iranian cinema. Her contributions to theater, television, and her trailblazing work in cinema solidify her legacy as a significant figure in the Iranian entertainment industry. Rīyāhī passed away on December 31, 2019, at the age of 93.
