Shahrām Mukrī (born August 17, 1978, Kermanshah, Iran) is an Iranian film director well-known for his Avant-garde and unconventional style of filmmaking. His best-known film Fish & Cat (Māhī va Gurbah, 2013), was selected for the Venice Film Festival’s Special Orizzonti Award. Mokri stands out as a significant character in contemporary Iranian cinema, who combines elements of art house cinema, science fiction, and complex story structures. He is a highly regarded director because of his distinct style, which challenges accepted conventions in the film industry.
