Sīrūs Alvand (born January 31, 1951, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian director and screenwriter who began his professional career as a film reviewer and critic. He transitioned to script writing and filmmaking, and some of his best-known works are highly acclaimed, including Outcry Under the Water (Faryād Zīr-i Āb, 1977). His film Once and for All (Yik Bār Barāyi Hamishah, 1992) won the 1992 Crystal Simorgh for Best Direction. In 2019, a ceremonial event in his honor was held at Iran’s House of Cinema to recognize his significant contributions to the Iranian movie industry.
