The Viper | Af‘ī | افعی

PersianAction, Thriller 105 min 1993

Six individuals aiming to escape the country illegally are captured by a militant group known as “Viper,” led by Baktash (Iloosh Khoshabe). Among them is a father who wants his son to study in America. Baktash offers them shelter in the Viper camp in exchange for their assistance. Shahin, due to his background, is assigned to train people under Baktash’s orders, which triggers envy and aggression from Etsez, Baktash’s deputy.

Another militant faction, the “Azad Iran Organization,” attacks the Viper camp when Baktash refuses to cooperate. The assault leads to damage, weapon theft, and the abduction of Baktash’s daughter. In response, Shahin and a group of Viper members launch a counter-attack on the Azad Iran Organization camp, destroying it and rescuing Baktash’s daughter. During this operation, Shahin is shot by Etsez, causing temporary hospitalization.

Shahin, who is revealed as an infiltrator working for the Iranian government, maintains secretive communication with contacts inside the country. After discovering that the Viper group is involved in heroin trafficking to Iran, he informs Mamek, who opposes her father’s actions.

Shahin’s true identity as an infiltrator is exposed, leading to a confrontation where he fights and kills several individuals before escaping with the remaining Viper members. However, he becomes trapped and faces punishment, only to be saved by Mamek. Internal divisions within the group culminate in a final battle between Shahin and his allies against Baktash and his forces, resulting in Baktash’s group’s downfall.
