Waiting | انتظار

The story takes place in a coastal town in southern Iran. It revolves around a teenage boy who is the main character and is tasked with delivering a crystal bowl full of ice to an old man and woman every day. The boy hands the bowl to a woman whose hand appears from a house, without seeing her face or body, and then delivers the ice to the elderly couple’s home. Eager for the time to collect ice, the boy one day opens the door of the house where the woman’s hand emerges during a time of mourning in the town. He enters the house and witnesses unusual scenes of women mourning. An old woman inside the house notices him, scolds him, and throws him out. The next time the boy goes to collect ice, an old woman’s wrinkled hand, instead of the young woman’s usual hand, reaches out to take the bowl from him to fill it with ice.
