Jomeh, after completing his Ph.D. degree abroad, returns to Iran. His homecoming is marked by a secretive and perilous mission in Iraq. Initially, upon his arrival in Iran, he makes his way to Sistan and Baluchestan to visit his wife, Sanam, and say his goodbyes to her and the rest of his family before heading off for his undisclosed mission. Given the classified nature of his task, Jomeh refrains from divulging any specifics to his loved ones.

He proceeds to Pakistan, ostensibly to secure a U.S. visa from the embassy, but there, he gets apprehended by Iraqi forces at a hotel. They confront him, pressuring him to collaborate with them, adding more complexity and danger to his mission.
