After the death of the village master, his foreign wife, assisted by the wicked overseer, demands the return of the land from Baba Sobhan’s sons, Saleh and Mosayyeb, who labor on the farm. Saleh and Mosayyeb decline but agree to pay the rent punctually. The overseer holds a grudge against Mosayyeb for marrying Showkat, who rejected his proposal before accepting Mosayyeb. The conflict between the overseer and Mosayyeb’s sons regarding the land results in the latter’s death and Saleh’s injury. Having lost his mental stability from the confrontation and a blow to the head, Saleh kills the overseer in the field. Subsequently, he is apprehended and transported to the central prison.
