The Nocturnal, a mute man, rescues Shokat, a cabaret singer, from a group of men and brings her to his modest home. Shokat lives with her son Shahram. The Nocturnal, in support of Shokat, becomes entangled with the agents of the cabaret owner. In court, the Nocturnal is granted clemency on the condition that he achieves the consent of the complainants. The manager of Shokat’s cabaret agrees to drop his complaint on the condition that Shokat marries him. Shokat goes to the manager’s house, and Shahram and a woman, who is Shokat’s friend, take pictures of him and the manager and threaten to show them to his wife if he does not consent to the Nocturnal’s release. The café manager agrees, and he and his group of musicians are hired.
