A Separation | Jodāyī-ye Nāder az Sīmīn | جدایی نادر از سیمین

A couple’s marriage living in Tehran fractures over an impossible choice: whether to emigrate for their daughter’s future or remain in Iran to care for the husband’s father, whose Alzheimer’s is worsening. When Nāder refuses to leave, Sīmīn files for divorce, hoping she can still secure a life abroad for their child. Left needing help at home, Nāder hires Rāżīyeh, a religious working-class woman who is quietly pregnant. A confrontation between them escalates into a physical incident and a subsequent miscarriage, pulling both families into a charged legal battle that exposes layers of class tension, moral uncertainty, and competing truths.
