The Hills of Mārlīk, the camera turns to the Mārlīk hills in northern Iran, where a roughly 3,000-year-old archaeological site is being excavated even as local farmers continue to work and fertilize the surrounding land. Moving between the patient labor of archaeology and the rhythms of everyday rural life, the film frames Marlik not only as a place of ancient artifacts but as a living landscape.
