Rakhshan Banietemad (born on the 3rd of April, 1954) is an Iranian contemporary director, screenwriter, and producer. Education: She graduated from Tehran Dramatic Arts (Faculty of Cinema and Theater of Art University) in the field of cinema directing in 1980. Professional Activities: In 1974, she began her career as the secretary of the stage at Iran National T.V. Until 1980, she directed several short documentary films. Starting in 1981, she worked as the stage secretary for the films "Sunny Abiders" (Aftab Neshinha) and "Chrysanthemum Flowers" (Golhayeh-e-Davoodi). From 1987, she passionately transitioned to directing movies for cinema. She also explored her talent in screenwriting, producing impressive and contemplative films in both Iranian and world cinema, earning numerous awards. After receiving the special award from the board of judges of the Asia Pacific Festival, Banietemad announced her plan to auction the award to establish an asylum for homeless women in Tehran.
