Elnaz Nasehi
Elnaz Nasehi, PhD, is an Associate Professor and filmmaker specializing in cinema, media, and communication studies. She holds a PhD from Eastern Mediterranean University, where her research focused on the intersection of feminism, modernity, and the ambivalent representation of unveiled women in Iranian cinema. Her academic work further explores the dynamics of patriarchy in film, the politics of visibility, and the impact of media on cultural narratives, with a particular focus on Iranian cinema.
Dr. Nasehi is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Her feature-length documentary Mishkín-Qalam (2023) delves into the life and artistic legacy of the renowned 19th-century Persian calligrapher, tracing his journey of exile and spiritual resilience. The film has been screened internationally, earning multiple accolades.
She currently serves as the Head of the Photography Department at Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design and is the Editor-in-Chief of the forthcoming Journal of FARR(AH): Journal of Iranian Culture, Art, and Literature, set to launch in 2025.
