Hadi Gharabaghi
Hadi Gharabaghi earned his PhD in Cinema Studies from New York University in 2018. He is currently a visiting assistant professor at Fairfield University. He has organized panels and contributed to academic organizations such as MESA, SCMS, and Visible Evidence and played a key role in forming an international community of research and pedagogy pertaining the Cold War film and media archives of the USIA. His publications include a case study of early Cold War Iran-US documentary diplomacy and film education for K-12 curriculum for the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies (2021/2022), a co-edited special issue journal on the USIA motion picture archives for the Journal of e-Media Studies (2022), and chapters in edited volumes on the topics of USIA film and television genealogy in Arab world and horror ambiguity in Iranian Cinema. Pending publications include a co-authored piece on USIA documentary (Oxford UP), the co-edited volume Governing Genealogies of International Film Education (with Terri Ginsberg, Temple UP) and Cinema and Cinematic Television in the Age of Netflix: A Study of the Global South (with Shakti Jaising) both of which include archival research and media ethnography on Iranian film and television.
