Javad Abbasi

Dr. Javad Abbasi is a retired Associate Professor of History at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. From 2012 to 2015, he was affiliated with the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at The Ohio State University. His research primarily focuses on the history of Iran during the Mongol and Timurid periods, with particular attention to the region of Khorasan. More recently, his work has expanded to include the history of Iran-Canada relations.
Dr. Abbasi has contributed to historical pedagogy as an advisor to the animated educational series Dāstān-e Tārikh (The Story of History), developed as a supplementary resource for teaching Iranian history in middle schools. His scholarly translations include Monetary History of Iran (Rudi Matthee et al.), Power, Politics and Religion in Timurid Iran (Beatrice Forbes Manz), and Kingship and Ideology in the Islamic and Mongol Worlds (Anne F. Broadbridge). His most recent publication is Archival History of Iran-Canada Relations.
