Karim Nikoonazar was born in Tehran. He began his career as a journalist covering cinema in “New Cinema” weekly magazine and served as the assistant chief editor of “24” Magazine from 2011 to 2016, a period during which it was recognized as one of the most popular cinema magazines. Over the years, he has written two movie scripts, with his latest work screened at the 2023 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
In 2018, Nikoonazar developed an interest in cinema and history, leading to the writing of his first nonfiction book on the Cinema Rex massacre, which was published in 2020. His second book is a biography of one of the pioneers of Iranian cinema, Ovanes Ohanian.
Currently, he is the editor-in-chief of RadioTragedy, a podcast that sheds light on lesser-known historic figures of Iran. He also oversees a magazine bearing the same name.
