The Wind Will Carry Us is a philosophical and poetic film that entertains notions of life and death, and the transient state of existence. This rural film, like many other films by Abbās Kiarostami, is inspired by the Persian modernist poetry of Forough Farokhzad and Sohrab Sepehri, as well as classical Persian poetry of Omar Khayyam and Hafez. The Wind Will Carry Us is a scenic film, shot mostly in the depth of field and  long takes, to highlight the grandiose of nature and the triviality of our ephemeral existence in this world.
